




LABOUR MINISTER AND TEAM VISITS BIT TRAINING LOCATIONS| Minister Hamilton was accompanied by CEO of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), Mr. Richard Maughn and Senior Technical Officer, Mr. Rondell Jordan to the Eccles Youth and Skills Training Center and the Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) to examine ongoing training exercises at the locations.
Trainees from an Information Technology and Commercial Food Preparation Classes at Eccles Youth and Skills Center interacted with the minister and his team, as they displayed some of their practical completed so far.
In an interview with BIT, some of the trainees highlighted that the course is enabling them to not just learn skill but is preparing them for entrepreneurship, through life skills teaching.
At Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC), a team of Heavy-Duty Equipment Operators (HDEO) trainees met and interacted with the minister as they were taught how to operate the simulator at the training facility.
Happy to see the level of dedication, the minister told the trainees the programmes offered by the Ministry of Labour, through BIT is mandated to improve the lives Guyanese near and far, without gender or religion bias.
For 2021, approximately 3500 persons have applied to do training programmes offered by BIT, which are presently rolling out across the Ten Administrative Regions.
