Oscar Requeña, hosted by Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton.
  • Discussions on TVET delivery and apprenticeship were raised as economical development for both Guyana and Belize.

Last evening, a cocktail reception was held in honour of Belize Minister of Labour, Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Development, Hon. Oscar Requeña, and his delegation, hosted by Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton at Cara Lodge.

Heads of Department of the labour ministry also attended the reception, such as, Chief Executive Officer of Board of Industrial Training, Mr. Richard Maughn, Chief Cooperative Officer, Ms. Debbie Persaud, Occupational Safety and Health Consultant, Ms. Gywneth King, among other senior staff.

The evening provided the Hon. Requeña, and his delegation representatives, namely, CEO, Ministry of Human Development, Families, and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Mrs. Tanya Santos-Neal, CEO, Ministry of Labour, Rural Transformation, Community Development and Local Government, Mr. Valentino Shal and Commissioner of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Mr. Greg Ch’oc, with the opportunity to interact with Minister Hamilton and senior staff of the Ministry of Labour.

Discussions were raised on securing worker’s rights, welfare of worker’s right, the delivery of technical and vocational training and strengthening occupational safety and health in the workplace, among other labour related matters.

Between, July 5 to 8, Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceño, visited Guyana on an invitation by President Irfaan Ali to deepen corporation with the two countries, in the areas of agriculture, food security, trade, investment, energy, climate change, tourism, and technology.
