BOARD OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING DELIVERED TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING TO MORE THAN 300 BENEFICIARIES IN REG 6

Three hundred and Sixty-Six (366) individuals in the East Berbice-Corentyne Region graduated on Monday, November 21, 2022 from thirteen (13) Vocational and Technical programmes undertaken by the Board of Industrial Training.

Heavy-Duty Equipment Operations (HDEO), Air Conditioning Repairs and Refrigeration, Computer Repairs and Maintenance, Motor Vehicle Repairs, Supervisory Management, Welding and Fabrication, Garment Construction, Care for the Elderly, General Building Construction, Cosmetology, Commercial Food Preparation, Electrical Installation and Arts and Fabric Designs were certified programmes offered to graduates.

The ceremony was held at the Outback Adventure Hall, Gangaram East Canje and was attended by Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton, BIT’s Chairman, Mr. David Armogan, BIT’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Richard Maughn, BIT’s Human Resource Officer, Ms.Melinda Kelly, BIT’s Senior Technical Officer, Mr. Bevon Shepherd among other officials.

Delivering his featured address, Minister Hamilton said that today’s ceremony is testimony to Government’s vision to equip its citizens with critical and much-needed skills to support the country’s development.

A vision which he pledged that BIT will continue to be a part of to help upskill and retrain willing personnel to build the country’s work force.

The labour minister told the graduates that today’s ceremony is just a stepping stone and as such, they need to strive for bigger achievements and goal in life.

BIT’s Chairman, Mr. Armogan applauded the graduates for taking advantage of the opportunities offered to them especially now that the region will soon provide endless opportunities, especially in the private sector.

As such, he urged them to continue on this journey of self-development to become business owners or gainfully employed as this is not the time to stop.
