123 Reg One residents certified in several hard skills

Empowering the lives of Region One residents is a commitment which the Government of Guyana continues to aim for to fulfill its manifesto promise to improve the lives of its citizens.

This goal is being accomplished with the certification of One Hundred and Twenty-Three Region One residents, on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, thanks to the support of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) under purview of the Ministry of Labour, this commitment is being fulfilled with.

They were certified in Six (6) technical disciplines, including Electrical Installation, Commercial Food Preparation, Block Making, Motor Vehicle Servicing and Repairs, Solar Installation and Repairs and Upholstery.

The graduation ceremony marks a 40 per cent increase of residents’ participation made possible by the instruction of Hon. Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour since assuming office in August 2020.

These programmes benefitted communities such as Waramuri, Kumaka, Santa Rosa, Kwebana, Warapoka and Manawarin. This include Waikrebi, a community in the Barama River, which received training from the agency for the first time.

Minister Hamilton, Personal Assistant to the Minister, Ms. Rosannah Allie, Board of Industrial Training, Senior Technical Officer, Mr. Bevon Shepherd, Technical Officer, Mr. Mohammed Shaheed, Moruca District Council, Mr. Jaremy Boyal, Santa Rosa Toshao, Mr. Stanley Stravos, Waramuri Toshao, Mr. Vivian Edward, and other officers were in attendance at Flavio La Rose Hall.

Officials encouraged the graduates and advice them to continue their studies or learn additional skills that would complement to their existing skills.
